Impressive Van Barneveld knocks out countryman, Anderson edges out Bunting after comeback

Vincent van der Voort and Raymond van Barneveld have advanced to the second round of the Players Championship Finals. Both Dutch players won their opening match against a fellow countryman.

Van der Voort booked a hard-fought win over Jelle Klaasen. In a match where both players missed a lot of darts on the doubles, it was Van der Voort who claimed a 6-4 win. Van Barneveld had a convincing 6-1 victory over Maik Kuivenhoven. The five-time world champion threw an average of 104 and a checkout percentage of 50%. Barney plays Michael van Gerwen or Kevin Doets in the second round, while Van der Voort takes on Andy Boulton.

Gary Anderson made it to the second round with a great comeback against Stephen Bunting. The Scot was 0-4 down after four legs, but then won 6-5. Former tournament winner Daryl Gurney proved too strong for Alan Soutar with 6-3.
