Brilliant Meikle stuns Van Duijvenbode, Cross through after beating Wattimena

Ryan Meikle reached the last 32 at the Players Championship Finals after upsetting Dirk van Duijvenbode with a fantastic display.

The Barber beat the Dutchman 6-5 with a 109 average, while Van Duijvenbode averaged 105. Meikle led 5-3, before Aubergenius forced a leg-decider after hitting two 15-dart legs. Van Duijvenbode had the throw in the last leg, but Meikle secured the win with a terrific 12-darter.

Rob Cross advanced to the second round after seeing off Jermaine Wattimena 6-2. José de Sousa, Damon Heta and Callan Rydz will also return on Saturday, after beating Devon Petersen, Steve Lennon and Mensur Suljovic respectively.
