Dave Chisnall qualified for the quarterfinals of the World Darts Championship on Saturday by winning 4-2 in sets over Daryl Gurney in the fourth round. It is a first televised quarterfinal of the season for 'Chizzy'.

"It feels good after all the people saying I'm not going to win on TV again!" Chisnall reacts with a smile in his post-match press conference. "It's just one of them. I know, I can throw the darts well. If I put my mind to it, I can play really well."

In the quarterfinals, Chisnall will take on Luke Humphries. The two Englishmen met five times in 2023 in finals of PDC ranking tournaments. Of these, four were won by 'Chizzy'.

''I love Luke Humphries, he's been one of my mates on tour for two or three years now," Chisnall says of his opponent. "If I play my game, I can easily up the 99 average to a 109. At the moment I just have silly legs, silly sets, like I'll lose a set 3-0, that's Dave Chisnall. But, I think I'm going to get better."

Whether Chisnall could lift the Sid Waddell Trophy on Jan. 3? ''That could be... I can't think of any reason why not. I'm not here to be a filler, I want to win the tournament.''
