Nathan Aspinall has been one of the leading players in the PDC for several years. 'The Asp' won the 2019 UK Open and added a World Matchplay title in 2023. He dreams of more success in the coming years, but despite his passionate appearance on stage, he does not appear to be much of a darts enthusiast.
Aspinall, who on several occasions set the audience in 'Ally Pally' on fire with his walk-on, reached the quarter-finals at the last World Darts Championship, in which he lost 5-2 to the later world champion Luke Littler. Partly due to injury, the 33-year-old Englishman did not have his best year and was left without any major titles. It was therefore somewhat surprising that he was still selected for the Premier League Darts 2025 last Monday.
In that Premier League Darts, Aspinall will also, of course, face Littler again. Asked if any young players could match Littler, Aspinall told Drive on talkSPORT: "It's going to sound awful, but I don't really take an interest in darts."
Snooker
"I prefer snooker. Yeah, I love snooker. When I'm not playing darts, I'm either playing golf or watching snooker. I don't watch darts, I don't follow darts. So I can't really answer that question. I've heard of a name, Jayden Walker. I don't know who he is or where he's from. I don't really. I watch the final, but apart from that, I don't watch it."
When asked if he was good at snooker or golf, the world No. 11 said, "Awful. I play more snooker than darts. I cannot get any good at it. I'm not bad at golf. I play off 10s golf, I'm not bad at golf."
