The Final Phase of the European Q-School will be held in Kalkar from Thursday to Sunday. On the first day of play, Swede Viktor Tingström crowned himself the day's winner. He may now play on the PDC Pro Tour for at least the next two years.

Tingström particularly impressed throughout the day with several 100+ averages, beating Dutchman Jimmy van Schie 6-4 in the final. After Magnus Caris, Daniel Larssen and Jeffrey de Graaf, he is only the fourth Swede ever to manage to capture a PDC Tour Card. Tingström was not immediately tipped in advance as one of the possible new Tour Card holders, but the Swede will not care about that at all.

Needless to say, it was an overjoyed Tingström who told his story afterwards at Viaplay. "I have never played so well before, I think this was the best day of my career anyway and it came at the right time," he said.

"I still thought in the morning that I might not be good enough to capture a Tour Card, but from the first arrow today I felt extremely good. I was very comfortable at the board and the confidence grew after each match won. I am really over the moon with conquering my Tour Card, this is insane."

"Conquering a PDC Tour Card is so enormously difficult," continued the 23-year-old Swede. "But after the second and third game I really started to believe in it. I kept imprinting myself to stay calm and I'm so extremely happy that I was able to finish it."

Besides Dutch Swede De Graaf, Tingström is now the second player from his country to be allowed to compete on the PDC Pro Tour next year. "And there are more to come, be confident of that," he says confidently.
