Adding her name to the growing list of event winners on the PDC
Women's Series,
Robyn Byrne spoke afterwards to Chris Murphy of her delight at claiming victory.
"I can't believe it to be honest. It's such a big thing to get over the line in one of these. I've been in a couple of finals so to get over the line is huge," says a beaming Byrne post-match. "The ranking money is huge, it puts me in a good position for the rest of the weekends. Its just unbelievable!"
After missing out on qualification for the Women's World Matchplay last year, Byrne has improved her chances greatly with this victory. Explaining what's changed between last year and this new-and-improved Robyn Byrne, she said "I've tried to calm down a bit. Even last year I was sitting 9th going into the last weekend and I let it get into my head."
"This year I haven't looked at the rankings once. I'm like 'if you keep winning games you're going to put money on the rankings so just keep winning,'" she continues. "I don't care if I finish first or eight just once your in that Matchplay it's huge. There's still a lot of work to be done."
