"It's ruined many careers, it's not going to ruin mine": Wright vows to turn it around as Premier League Darts misery continues

After a 6-3 defeat to the in-form Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright's Premier League Darts misery continues with only one win over the nine weeks and soul searching with his equipment.

Wright has made the decision in 2023 not to play the ProTour as much and focus on the weekly roadshow and subsequent European Tours with the latter accruing more money.

But is now wondering if he has made the right choice and might return to the ProTour after famously in years gone by playing everything.

"I see having the time off has backfired. I thought if I have time off, it'll keep me fresh for the Premier League, the European Tour, I might be ok. But obviously it's not working so maybe I have to go back to the ProTour events to keep me sharp, I don't know. We will have to see," said Wright to Online Darts.

But unlike others in the past who have not seen the Premier League be kind to them, it doesn't preoccupy Wright and he vowed not to let it ruin his career.

"Other players would think about it. I just turn up each week, it doesn't matter. I know I can beat any of these guys in any tournament if I turn up so it doesn't put a negative on my game. It's the Premier League, it's not quite working but next week it'll turn and I'll start winning and I'll qualify and they will be like where did you come from."

"Someone's got to lose but it's the way you deal with it, if you deal with it fine, don't let it affect it. It's ruined many, many dart players careers the Premier League. It's not going to ruin mine as I know how to win. I will turn it around."
