The Last 16 line-up is set and
James Wade will be a part of it as 'The Machine' continued his recent form by seeing off Steve Lennon 6-2 at the
Players Championship Finals.
The recent European Championship finalist will eye a return to the winners' circle this weekend. 'The Machine' missed a lot of doubles (6/23) for his efforts, but nevertheless won comfortably against the Irishman.
Jonny Clayton on the other hand did not move through with Double Dutch delight on the Main Stage and Stage Two.
Jermaine Wattimena and
Niels Zonneveld joined Michael van Gerwen in qualifying for the last sixteen at the Players Championship Finals in Minehead.
It was already clear that another Dutchman would join Van Gerwen anyway, as Wattimena faced compatriot Richard Veenstra. 'The Machine Gun' played an excellent match and took a 5-2 lead with an average of 105. However, after five missed matchdarts Veenstra came back to 5-5, and 'Flyers' was allowed to start the last leg. Veenstra neatly left 70 after twelve darts, but Wattimena managed to win the match with a fantastic 164 finish. While Zonneveld saw off Clayton in a 6-2 win over on Stage Two to continue his superb weekend so far and hand 'The Ferret' another early defeat.
