An average of 112 is normally enough to win a match comfortably, but Josh Rock was eliminated Saturday despite an average of 102.27.
Against Gabriel Clemens, the Northern Irishman's scoring was fabulous, including 13 140 scores, but missed too many doubles (3/10). On the contrary, Clemens recorded a finishing percentage of 54.5 percent, enabling him to win 6-3 over Rock.
Luke Humphries also recorded a high average. 'Cool Hand Luke' reached a 107.36 average against Radek Szaganski, making for a convincing 6-0 victory for Humphries. It was that convincing that the recent Grand Slam champion hit 6/6 on the outer ring. Dave Chisnall did live up to his status as number four on the seeds by beating Chris Dobey 6-4. Moreover, 'Chizzy' recorded an average of 109.88, while Dobey himself threw a 103.43 average. Ryan Joyce provided a little surprise by eliminating Joe Cullen 6-4 over on Stage Two as the Last 16 line-up heads towards being confirmed in Minehead.
