James Wade impressed to end the session at the
Baltic Sea Darts Open. 'The Machine' sealed a 6-2 win over Niels Zonneveld. He will now face Joe Cullen in the next round.
Wade produced a typical performance with a 99 average without any 180's but he was rock solid on the doubles with 40% on the outer ring as well as a high checkout of 155 en route to making it through to Saturday's action.
While Jermaine Wattimena impressively reached the second round at the Baltic Sea Darts Open on Friday afternoon. In the first round of the Euro Tour tournament in Kiel, 'The Machine Gun' was 6-1 too strong for Brendan Dolan.
The Northern Irishman had shown good form earlier this week by surprisingly winning the tenth Players Championship tournament of the year in Hildesheim. This time, however, Dolan was no match for the scoring prowess of Wattimena, who posted an average of 101.06.
Wattimena also impressed on the doubles. By hitting 76 and 104, he took an immediate 2-0 lead. Leg three went to Dolan, before Wattimena hit a 13-darter to make it 3-1.
The final blow came in the fifth leg. Both players missed some doubles, then the leg went to the Dutchman with a 21-darter. Wattimena then closed with an 11-darter and a 16-darter, putting him up against Ryan Searle in the second round.
Luke Woodhouse managed a handsome victory over Ryan Joyce to reach the next round at the Baltic Sea Darts Open. 'The Shed' trailed 2-4 against his English compatriot, but Woodhouse made up the deficit and won 6-5 thanks to a 12-darter in the final leg.
