The first two ties of this year's World Cup of Darts are complete with two deciding legs to begin the tournament with Japan and South Africa making it through to the second round in Hamburg.

The pairing of Seigo Asada and Haruki Muramatsu were expected to breeze through against stalwart Dyson Parody and debutant Antony Lopez but they were given a serious test.
Lopez in particular impressed and brought them back from the brink at 4-2 down to a tense 4-4 stalemate. This led to a deciding leg and with 'Hot Fuzz' ready on 42 and seemingly on his way to claiming a brilliant victory for the duo; Seigo Asada produced some quality to hit a 104 finish to claim the victory and save the Japanese side their blushes.
This led onto the tie between South Africa and Northern Ireland. The side of Devon Petersen and debutant Vernon Bouwers were facing the experience of Brendan Dolan and Daryl Gurney.

It was Bouwers though who impressed when he settled into the tie rattling in treble 20's and treble 19's for fun seemingly at the start; but it was all a bit nervy between the pair with missed doubles starting to creep in.
He had the chance to put it into a decider but his inexperience showed as he missed three at double 20 to send it into a decider. Dolan though alongside Gurney missed their chance to win. This led to Devon to lead by example and send it into a decider prompting a roar from the entertaining South African.
Devon upped his 140 count and then smashed in a 180 to put the side firmly into the driving seat. Bouwers though hit more treble 7's which seemed to be his nemesis to counteract his good scoring; but 'The African Warrior' kept his cool and showed his big stage prowess by hitting a 74 finish to claim a big victory.
