Jeffrey Sparidaans and
Keane Barry are the opening winners at the 2024
European Darts Grand Prix moving into Saturday's second round in Sindelfingen with a rout for the former.
Sparidaans seals a maiden
European Tour victory in his opening win and despite averaging only 90, he routed Callan Rydz and to coin a nickname, it was a Riot win for the Dutchman. He will face off against Josh Rock in the second round with Michael Smith or Raymond van Barneveld potentially lurking. Rydz in particular struggled on the doubles missing 1/5 on his attempts and his trademark doubling power struggled. While the Dutchman took his chances when it mattered most in winning 6-1.
For Keane Barry, he fended off a late fightback from Stephen Burton to seal a 6-5 win and he extended Burton's winless run on the European Tour to six matches as he couldn't make a full comeback into the tie. The Irishman will face Dave Chisnall in the second round. Barry went 5-2 up but had to fend off the Suffolk ace in the end.
