Jermaine Wattimena could not follow up his victory over Fallon Sherrock at the World Darts Championship. 'The Machine Gun' went down in the second round on Friday night against Martin Schindler.
"Every arrow felt good, but it didn't go there," Wattimena commented after his loss at Viaplay. "I'm balking, of course. He was throwing the trebles and I wasn't. Then he is ahead every leg and he gets more chances on the double." Wattimena did acknowledge, however, that Schindler was the deserved winner. "He was the better player," he said.
For a moment Wattimena could still hope for a result. After losing the first two sets, the dart player from Westervoort took the third set thanks to a 170 finish. But one set later it was over for Wattimena, who was already thinking about next season. "I'm really looking forward to 2024," he said.
