Martin Schindler has qualified for the third round at the World Darts Championship. The 27-year-old German was too strong for Jermaine Wattimena in the second round, running out a 3-1 winner.
"I think I played very decent," Schindler assessed in his post-match press conference. "I don't think there was a bad situation. My scoring was very good but also my finishing was quite good."
With Florian Hempel and Gabriel Clemens, there are two more Germans in the last 32, and Ricardo Pietreczko could join them on Saturday. "German darts has grown to a different level," Schindler confirms. "I think if we compare to like five World Championships ago, there were only maybe two or three Germans participating. But now we have three already into the third round and Ricardo who's looking in good shape."
Schindler will take on Scott Williams in the next round, who provided a shock in the second round by sending seventh-seeded Danny Noppert home. "I'm not going to lie, Scott Williams is definitely the better draw than Danny Noppert. Danny is one of the best players in the world so it may be lucky for me he got knocked out. But, we never know."

'The Wall' started this World Championship as No. 26 in the world. "I'm probably one of the best players in the world or at least I can be. Not one of the best on the stage just yet but I'm trying," he says.
