The recent resurgence of 'Machine Gun' Jermaine Wattimena continues. The Dutchman has made a very impressive start to his 2025 PDC World Darts Championship campaign, securing a classy 3-0 victory over Stefan Bellmont, averaging 98.54, to set up a round 2 meeting with James Wade on Monday.
After good runs at the European Championship, Grand Slam of Darts and Players Championship Finals in recent months, Jermaine Wattimena headed to the Ally Pally full of confidence. That self-belief shone through in the opening set as well as the Dutchman raced through the first set 3-1 thanks to legs of 18, 13 and 14.

A brilliant double-double checkout saw Wattimena break the Bellmont throw in the opening leg of set 2 as well, continuing his momentum. After he moved 2-0 up, the set looked like Wattimena's for the taking. Although Bellmont did pull one leg back, the Dutchman kept his cool, secured leg 4 and cruised into a 2-0 lead, just one away from a second round tie against James Wade.
Bellmont wasn't done yet though, and came firing out for set 3 with a break of throw. After missing a chance to hold in leg 2 though, Wattimena immediately broke back and then when the Dutchman himself held throw in the following, he was suddenly just one leg away from the victory. With Wattimena sat on tops for the match, Bellmont held his nerve, pinning and 83 checkout to force a deciding leg in the set. Thanks to his 5th 180 of the contest, Bellmont was down to a finish first in the decider too. After the Swiss narrowly missed double 12 for the set though, Wattimena nailed tops with his second match dart to book his place in round 2.
