Jerry Hendriks thinks that darts deserves more respect: "There is more to it than you might think"

Jerry Hendriks was a guest on the Barts Bootcamp section of the program De Vooravond last week. Among the topics included how the 32-year-old Dutchman got the nickname 'Electric'.

"I started playing darts very young", Hendriks opened. "My father and godfather played football and there was a darts board in the canteen, where I spent countless hours. It soon turned out that I had talent for it and I was always the best at regional tournaments. From there I slowly started building and eventually also played national and international tournaments. "

Hendriks was there for the last time at the PDC World Championship 2017, but then disappeared from the scene. "I may have trained a little too little and have also experienced a lot of setbacks, that is not going to be in your cold clothes. Sometimes I also have the feeling that people look a bit down on darts, there is more to it than you might think."

Electric nickname

Finally, we also found out how Hendriks got his nickname 'Electric'. "When I took part in the World Championship in 2017, the PDC had given me the nickname 'The Hotdog'. However, I didn't like that. That's why RTL 7 called on viewers to find an original nickname and the result was' Electric "I thought it was okay because my hair at the time was twice as long as it is now and I put them up in large spikes. I also made electricity cables for trucks. Although I have been doing something different since then but that nickname has remained common", concludes Hendriks.
