Jones sets up Last 16 tie with Adams after Scholten win at World Seniors Darts Masters

Wayne Jones is into the Last 16 of the World Seniors Darts Masters after seeing off Roland Scholten 4-1 in sets and will now face Martin Adams tomorrow at Lakeside.

Jones as one of the qualifiers is seen by some as an outsider to win this weekend given his prior pedigree and only just leaving the PDC Tour similar to Robert Thornton who won the first World Seniors Darts Championship.

He sealed the opening set in successive legs against 'The Tripod' with a 100 checkout but Scholten was straight back with a clean sweep in set two finishing 76 for parity.

But from there, 'The Wanderer' reeled off three sets on the spin edging the third in a decider to regain the upperhand before digging deep to go 3-1 up with a 97 checkout.

A 13-darter began the fifth set for Jones who saw Scholten reply with a 105 checkout to keep matters interesting but he couldn't pounce on a good start on Jones' throw and hitting double 16 for the win.
