The
Dutch Darts Championship continues with mixed fortunes for the home heroes in Zwolle as
Danny Noppert sailed through but Martijn Kleermaker did not meet the same fate.
Noppert produced a ruthless display in a Double Dutch battle with Arjan Konterman showing his class with a 96 average, two 180's and 46.2% on the doubles in his first return home since becoming a major champion earlier this year.
But being unseeded for this weekend, he is set to face Martin Schindler tomorrow afternoon in what could be a quality game given 'The Wall's current form.
Simon Whitlock has not been seen on the
European Tour for some time but has made the most of his opportunity by seeing off Jamie Hughes in a superb display.
'The Wizard' averaged 99 and produced five 180's to see off the former European Tour winner 6-3 and will now face Joe Cullen tomorrow evening. While
Callan Rydz will return to face Brendan Dolan tomorrow afternoon after seeing off Kleermaker.
It wasn't to be for 'The Dutch Giant' who started with a break of throw but couldn't maintain that form and Rydz took five of the next six legs.
Kleermaker survived match darts but his resolve didn't last for long as Rydz won the following leg with a 15-darter.
