It is a figure that highlights how much the professional game has evolved. Where once a small core group dominated, the list of finalists now continues to grow, reflecting a field that is broader and more varied than ever before.

England still leads but the gap is being challenged

England remains the clear leader when it comes to ProTour finalists, with 82 different players reaching a final. That total accounts for more than half of the overall figure and underlines the depth that still exists within the English game.
The Netherlands sit second with 21 finalists, maintaining a strong presence on the international stage. Germany follow with eight, while Wales and Scotland have produced seven and six finalists respectively.
Australia and Belgium have each delivered five different finalists, with Northern Ireland also matching that number. Ireland sits on four, while Austria and Canada have both contributed three finalists. Poland has three representatives on the list, with Spain on two.

A growing global spread on the ProTour

Beyond those numbers, the wider spread of nationalities tells its own story. The ProTour has also seen finalists emerge from Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Russia, South Africa and Sweden, each represented by one player.
Taken together, the figures underline how the ProTour has expanded beyond its traditional base. What was once heavily centred around the United Kingdom and Western Europe now includes a far wider range of countries.
Hood’s place as the 160th different finalist fits directly into that trend, illustrating how opportunities at this level are continuing to open up to a broader group of players, with the list expected to grow further as the season progresses.
