Keane Barry was the man of the weekend at the opening weekend of the PDC Development Tour. The Irish darter managed to win two of the first five tournaments in Milton Keynes.
Barry won the second tournament of the weekend by defeating Gian van Veen 5-4 and then beat Sebastian Bialecki 5-0 in the final of Development Tour 3. 'Dynamite' earned a total of 6,000 pounds. The other three tournaments last weekend had Dutch winners, taking spots two, three and four on the Development Tour Order of Merit.
The first tournament was won by Danny Jansen, who is in third place with 3175 pounds. Jurjen van der Velde won the fourth event and is in fourth place with 3100 pounds. The second position is held by Van Veen, who won this weekend's final tournament.
The Development Tour is the youth circuit of the PDC. This tour is open to players ages 16 through 23. Players who turn 24 during the season may continue to compete.
At each Development Tour tournament, there is a prize pool of 15,000 pounds to be divided. With the prize money, a ranking is established. At the end of the season, the numbers one and two receive an invitation to the World Darts Championship, plus a Tour Card for 2025 and 2026. The ranking winner also gets to compete in the Grand Slam of Darts.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
