Kevin Doets goes for another upset against Gerwyn Price: "In my head, I'm winning"

Kevin Doets provided the first surprise at the Dutch Darts Masters 2025 on Friday night by comfortably defeating two-time major winner Nathan Aspinall in Den Bosch. In the end, it was 6-1 for the Dutchman in front of his compatriots.
This puts Doets in the quarterfinals at the second tournament of the 2025 World Series of Darts. Last month Doets also showed good form at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship by reaching the last sixteen in Alexandra Palace. Whether 'Hawkeye' took the good feeling with him to the Netherlands? "That's hard to say. Of course I had a good performance at the World Championship, but the level there was not top. I think I threw better now than at the World Championship. I never had the feeling I was going to lose," Doets told NOS after his victory over Aspinall.

Nevertheless, his World Championship result has stirred up a lot for Doets. "That can't be described. I gained more sponsorship deals, sponsorship contracts and so many fans on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. It's unbelievable."
On Saturday night, Doets may face Gerwyn Price for a spot in the final four of the Dutch Darts Masters. ''Last year I also had Price in the second round, but this year I hope to win. In my head, I'm winning.''
Against the Welshman, he can probably count again on the massive support of the Dutch public, which chanted Doets en masse Doets There It Is. ''All the time (I heard it, ed.). From arrow one I think. Beautiful man'', he said about that.

- Likewise, I have always been a fan of Mervyn and with this worry on his mind, it explains why his form and ranking plummeted. It is really sad to hear this, often chatted to Mervyn and Tracey during the Lakeside days, both are lovely people. It does seem naive not acknowledging the fact it was earnings, surely there must be others in the same situation. - What’s with the dogs element to this story, trying to pull at the heart strings? Just goes to show that being a good dart player does not equate to being that bright. Seriously, ‘I thought you didn’t have to pay tax on winnings’ , your a pro dart player and its your line of work, your not playing the lottery or placing a bet. I think it was Phil Taylor who said you should put a third to one side of all winnings into a bank account, obviously Merv was wearing his earplugs at the time.Mysstree10-03-2025
- The thing is... the folks who "humiliated" Taylor in the Seniors Events never really achieved anything in the important events - like Taylor did. Taylor had/has nothing to prove... and beating Taylor after he had retired is of zero value. Taylor in his prime would have made easy work of all of them. Cheers.MrYnyslas197107-03-2025
