Luke Littler wins PDC World Darts Championship repeat over Michael van Gerwen, set to face Stephen Bunting at Dutch Darts Masters

We get a new winner in Den Bosch. Defending champion Michael van Gerwen flew out Saturday night in the quarterfinals against Luke Littler, who lost to Van Gerwen in last year's final.
It was not a good match from the men who were still in the World Darts Championship final at the beginning of this month. Littler had an average of just 94.85, compared to just 90.26 for Van Gerwen.
Littler took a 1-0 lead with a 14-darter and then saw Van Gerwen miss three chances to keep his own leg. Van Gerwen finally had 21 arrows to do so, as the leg went to Littler with a 21-darter. The world champion then moved into a 3-0 lead with a 15-darter.

Van Gerwen then got on the scoreboard with a 12-darter before Littler missed four chances to make it 4-1. Van Gerwen closed to 2-3 via tops and then evened the score with a second 12-darter. Littler was then able to make it 4-3 with a 16-darter, before breaking Van Gerwen with a 15-darter. The Englishman then decided the game with a 14-darter.
While Stephen Bunting who by winning the Bahrain Darts Masters is the number one seed in Den Bosch felled Raymond van Barneveld.. 'Barney' showed resilience, but ultimately fell just short against 'The Bullet'.
The match started with a very bad leg, which went to Van Barneveld with a 22-darter. That was a break, but the Dutchman then did not get a dart on a double in six visits. Bunting equalized and made it 2-1 with a 12-darter. Van Barneveld then responded with a 12-darter to make it 2-2.
Van Barneveld then had two chances for a break, but did not cash in. Bunting regained the lead and then saw 'Barney' level the score again. A 12-darter and a 16-darter put Bunting up 5-3, but Van Barneveld did not give up and came back to 5-5. Bunting started the last leg and the Englishman used this advantage with a 13-darter.

- Likewise, I have always been a fan of Mervyn and with this worry on his mind, it explains why his form and ranking plummeted. It is really sad to hear this, often chatted to Mervyn and Tracey during the Lakeside days, both are lovely people. It does seem naive not acknowledging the fact it was earnings, surely there must be others in the same situation. - What’s with the dogs element to this story, trying to pull at the heart strings? Just goes to show that being a good dart player does not equate to being that bright. Seriously, ‘I thought you didn’t have to pay tax on winnings’ , your a pro dart player and its your line of work, your not playing the lottery or placing a bet. I think it was Phil Taylor who said you should put a third to one side of all winnings into a bank account, obviously Merv was wearing his earplugs at the time.Mysstree10-03-2025
- The thing is... the folks who "humiliated" Taylor in the Seniors Events never really achieved anything in the important events - like Taylor did. Taylor had/has nothing to prove... and beating Taylor after he had retired is of zero value. Taylor in his prime would have made easy work of all of them. Cheers.MrYnyslas197107-03-2025
