Martijn Kleermaker has produced a clinical display to win on his long awaited PDC
World Darts Championship debut against John Michael 3-1.
Kleermaker wasn't involved last year after testing positive for Covid-19 and will now face off against Simon Whitlock after hitting four 180's, a high checkout of 156 and 30% on the doubles.
Kleermaker had a superb start to proceedings taking out 156 to wrap up the opening set without reply with Michael languishing.
The second went all the way to a decider with Kleermaker taking out double 17 to take it in a deciding leg.
Michael broke throw as he was potentially staring down the barrel of defeat and he walked over to the crowd attempting to get them on his side.
He took out double four and celebrated once more as his opponent had to endure a comeback from the Greek ace.
An 81 checkout to break saw Kleermaker get back on track. Back-to-back 180’s saw Kleermaker pin 43 to go one away.
He missed two match darts but Michael missed double eight which allowed Kleermaker back for the win.
