Cross needed to win and nothing else to avoid being eliminated after Daryl Gurney lost out to Peter Wright earlier this evening but Durrant got the requisite six legs he needed.
As well as averaging 106, he also hit 7/9 on the doubles and a 167 checkout en route in a highly impressive win for the Teesside ace with Cross bowing out with a 103 average himself.
It was nearly a humbling defeat for Cross in his final Premier League match of this year as he went 4-0 down with aforementioned 167 checkout. He got on the board with a 124 checkout on the bull which sparked a mini revival.
He took three legs in a row with a break and a hold to make it 5-3 and to ask the question of Durrant. The latter promptly answered with a hold of his own to make sure of a point.
From there, a 72 checkout and a 14 darter saw Durrant win through and continue to top the league ahead of the second phase.
