Lewis eases past Larsson to begin PDC World Darts Championship, set for Heta clash in second round

Two-time World Champion, Adrian Lewis delighted the crowd at the Alexandra Palace with his fan favourite walk on and did so too with his display with a convincing victory over Daniel Larsson in a 3-0 sets win.

Lewis will now face Damon Heta who has failed to impress at times on TV over the course of this year so an opportunity could present itself for 'Jackpot' who hit a 93 average and three 180's en route allowing the Swede only three legs.

Despite not hitting a single 180, Lewis began well with a 93 average as he breezed through the opening set at the Alexandra Palace.

Both hit 180’s but Larsson started the second set with an 88 checkout. Larsson left double 20 after 12 darts but Lewis hit a 90 checkout for 1-1.

Larsson missed three at double five and Lewis picked his pocket to go one away from 2-0 in sets. He started his throw with back-to-back 180’s but didn’t get any further on the nine-dart finish albeit sealed the set on double 10.

Lewis missed 72 on double six and further darts including on double one but Larsson couldn’t pounce and ‘Jackpot’ opened the third set successfully. Lewis missed 164 on the bull for a break and Larsson hit double six to level.
