The PDC has once again released its alternative Order of Merit rankings. This takes into account only last 200 played legs by each Tour Card holder. As always, this alternative world ranking does produce some surprising results.
Something that isn't a surprise however, is Luke Humphries, the world number one in official Order of Merit and the number one on this alternative world ranking also. The 29-year-old Englishman, who took the win at the World Matchplay in Blackpool last week, averaged 99.70, with 38.86% on his doubles over the last 200 legs he played. This puts Humphries well ahead of his rivals, especially in terms of his overall average.
Notable though is the number two in this alternative world ranking, Jonny Clayton. The 49-year-old Welshman is only eighth in the official Order of Merit and was unable to replicate his run to the final at the Winter Gardens from 203, being eliminated in the second round of the 2024 World Matchplay after a defeat against Dimitri Van den Bergh. Clayton did recently win a Players Championship though and posted an average of 98.39 during his last 200 legs. His doubles percentage of 45.63 is even higher than that of Humphries. 'The Ferret' seems to have found the right form again and will again be a player to reckon with at the majors.
The number three in this alternative world ranking is also quite a notable name. Cameron Menzies is only 47th in the official world rankings, but has been performing extremely well on the Players Championships and the European Tour in recent weeks. The Scot has averaged 97.95 and hit 42.42% on his doubles.
In the top ten we also find one Dutchman with Michael van Gerwen. The number three on the official Order of Merit rankings is down in a lowly 9th place in this alternative world ranking. 'Mighty Mike', last weekend's losing finalist at the World Matchplay against Humphries, achieved an average of 97.02 and 37.82% on his doubles.
Completing the top 10, Rob Cross is 4th, Luke Littler retains a high placing in 5th despite his first round exit at the Matchplay, Gary Anderson, Ross Smith and James Wade are 6th, 7th and 8th respectively, with Dave Chisnall completing the 10 most in form players in the PDC today.
