Luke Humphries beat
Nathan Aspinall while
Gerwyn Price beat
Luke Littler in the latter two quarter-final matches of Night 3 of the Premier League in Glasgow.
Overcoming a sparkling start from Nathan Aspinall, Luke Humphries checked out 105 to win 6-3 with a 105 average.
After missing seven darts at double - including one at D12 for a
nine-darter - in the opening three legs, the Asp led 2-1 with a 115 average.
But despite the early barrage of almost unplayable scoring from Aspinall, Humphries dug in and continued his glittering high-scoring, winning the leg where Aspinall missed out on perfection and running away with the contest as Aspinall wilted.
Finishing up with a 97 average and just 21% on doubles, Aspinall failed to threaten in the last three legs.
Dismissing his poor form from the Players Championship events of Monday and Tuesday this week, Cool Hand Luke ensured his safe progression to the semi-finals.
In a fascinating high-paced contest, Price missed D12 for a nine-darter and hung on in a last-leg decider to beat Luke Littler 6-5 with both averaging 96.
With both averaging around 110 early on in the match, the scoring soon came back to reality - despite Price hitting six and Littler hitting four 180s.
But as the game progressed, the drama never faltered, with missed doubles punished. Across legs three to eight, there were six breaks of throw including a 138 checkout from Littler.
Leg 10 could've finished as a 6-4 win for Price, but Littler sent it all the way with a 20-dart hold, only for Price to make his advantage on the throw count and secure his place in the final.
Humphries and Price will now battle it out in the night's second semi-final, with both guaranteeing at least two points added to their tally on the table.
Rob Cross and Michael van Gerwen will battle it out next in the first semi-final of the night.
