Luke Humphries has gained some semblance of revenge for last week's shock loss to
Mike de Decker at the 2024 World Grand Prix albeit of course he'd rather have the major title. But still a win is a win as he moves on at the
Czech Darts Open.
Humphries will now get set for a showdown with Luke Littler after a 6-2 win in Prague. A match that he hasn't fared too well in since his World Championship final win and given the utter insanity of Littler's form this weekend could be a tall order.
A 103 average for Humphries after Littler handed Michael van Gerwen a brutal thrashing with a 110 average as MVG hit a 112 in a 6-1 defeat. 'Cool Hand Luke' will know his A game is needed next up. But if anyone can bring it out, it is the World Number One and World Champion. The winner knows too they perhaps have a big favourite tag as they will face either Niels Zonneveld or Kim Huybrechts in the final.
Humphries missed three clear darts for a 3-0 lead and De Decker got a leg on the board albeit only to hold. 'Cool Hand Luke' hit a 180 and 47 checkout to go 4-1 up.
De Decker missed 128 to break back and Humphries hit double eight for a 5-1 lead. Humphries missed two match darts from 68 and De Decker held throw to spare his blushes further. A 177 saw Humphries edge closer to the finishing line on his throw. He followed that up with a 99 to leave 88 with De Decker not yet on a finish.
Humphries finally got over the line piling in double 20 to seal the victory as he jokingly celebrated in front of De Decker before they shared a laugh and an embrace.
