In a ridiculously good quarterfinal,
Luke Littler made it to the semifinals at the
Czech Darts Open at the expense of
Michael van Gerwen. Van Gerwen played a strong match, but still fell short against the unleashed teenage sensation from England.
The statistics are bizarre. Littler threw an average of 110.57, his third consecutive 110+ average at this tournament. He tallied six 180-scores and had a finish percentage of 46 percent. Van Gerwen countered with an average of 112.19 and five 180-scores, but had a finish percentage of just 16.7 percent (1/6).
Van Gerwen opened the match with a 13-darter, then Littler went on and on with a 12-darter and a 13-darter. In the fourth leg, Van Gerwen missed a dart on the bullseye before Littler made it 3-1 with a 106 checkout.
In the fifth leg, Van Gerwen missed two more darts on the double. Littler took advantage again and made it 4-1 with a 13-darter. 'The Nuke' then gave Van Gerwen no chance to get back in the match and closed with a 14-darter and an 11-darter.
Littler will face the winner of the match between Luke Humphries and Mike de Decker in the semifinals later this evening. In the other semifinal, Niels Zonneveld will face Kim Huybrechts.
