Gary Anderson continues to just miss out at the
Grand Slam of Darts. He was in the pound seats going 12-8 and also one away against
Luke Littler but the darting dynamo found a way in a decider to win 16-15.
Littler now faces a tie against Martin Lukeman, an unexpected finalist where he will be the massive favourite. A maiden major ranking title awaits for 'The Nuke' potentially or will 'Smash' add to the list of new winners. Mike de Decker, Ritchie Edhouse and Martin Lukeman? Or will it run to script? Find out this evening.
Anderson had the advantage early on in the clash surging into a 3-2 lead. Littler led at 4-3 but Anderson had a superb riposte as he hit 124 on the bull to level at 4-4. Only for Littler to hit a sensational 124 checkout of his own after another near perfect leg to go 6-4 up.
But Anderson halted the charge of Littler as he produced a superb 11-dart hold having threatened a nine-dart finish and he was sat at 7-5 ready to pounce. Pounce he did with a majestic 164 checkout to make it 7-6.
Anderson regained the advantage at 8-7 up with a 142 checkout. This kickstarted a run of legs as he hit a 142 checkout to make it 8-7. He extended his run to six legs to lead 10-7 from there and despite Littler averaging over 105, he didn't stand a chance as Anderson made it 11-7 as it was very much Littler misses and Anderson hits. He pinned 102 for it. But going into the final break, Littler was back on his coattails. He pinned back-to-back 180's and an 11-dart break gave him a 13-11 deficit.
Anderson kept a lead going 14-12 up and also one away. But a decider was soon forced after a brace of 180's of Anderson's throw saw him make it 15-15 all and Littler set up double 12 which he hit first time for the win.
