Gian van Veen and Luke Littler are still on course to qualify for the final of the PDC World Youth Championship in Wigan. Both players have now qualified for the quarter-finals, although it didn't come naturally.
After Littler and Van Veen easily got through the group stage, they started the elimination round later in the afternoon. Littler first won easily against Tom Garfield (6-2) and Ronan McDonagh (6-1), but then escaped elimination against Charlie Manby. The latter missed two match darts before Littler struck after all and took the win 6-5.
Van Veen had easily worked his way past Damian Vetjens (6-2) and Jeffrey Keen (6-0), but then had to play in the last sixteen. He was a break behind against Aidan O'Hara, but eventually won 6-5 against the Irishman. Cameron Crabtree is Van Veen's next opponent, after Crabtree fought his way past Nunjo Dewaele (6-5) in the eighth finals.
Jamai van den Herik who has foreran on the Development Tour is also through and faces Luk Littler. After victories over Ryan Branley (6-2), Leon Weber (6-0) and Lok Yin Lee (6-3), Van den Herik will now face Littler. Also in the quarterfinals are Beau Greaves who faces Liam Maendl-Lawrence. She narrowly defeated Tyler Thorpe also coming from behind to do so. Keane Barry and Sebastian Bialecki are also through.
Play will continue until the two finalists are known. The final of the PDC World Youth Championship is traditionally played on the final night of the Players Championship Finals in Minehead.
