Luke Littler managed to throw his third nine-darter of the year on Sunday night at the Belgian Darts Open. 'The Nuke' threw the perfect leg in the final of the Euro Tour tournament in Wieze and eventually won the event by beating Rob Cross 8-7.
Earlier this year, Littler already threw a nine-darter at the Bahrain Darts Masters and also on the Pro Tour, the Englishman already managed to throw a leg in nine arrows.
Littler is only the 11th player ever to have managed to throw at least three nine-darters in a calendar year. James Wade was the first to do so in 2006. Furthermore, Raymond van Barneveld, Simon Whitlock, Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen, Adrian Lewis, Geert Nentjes, Dave Chisnall and Luke Humphries also managed to produce three nine-starters in one year.
Van Gerwen even threw four nine darters in one year in 2016 and 2019, while Gerwyn Price matched that feat in 2022. So Littler still has almost 10 months to match Van Gerwen and Price's record and then even improve on it.
