Luke Littler couldn't start the 2025 Pro Tour in winning style on Monday afternoon in Wigan. At Players Championship 1, the world champion slipped to defeat against Joe Cullen in the last 32.
As is often the case when Littler loses a match, social media was alight with people talking about the match immediately following Cullen's victory. Not all the discussion was positive either, with a number of haters coming out of the woodwork to criticise Littler. Amidst the criticism of the world number two, one fan on Facebook leapt to the defence of 'The Nuke', writing: "All you Littler haters make me laugh remember what he's done and won in one year on tour. Hate people who rip into people's success."
In what was surely a very cool moment for the Littler fan, before long the world champion himself responded. "Still earned a few quid today while these are sat at home charging their phones waiting for me to lose,” Littler feistily bit back, putting his haters in their place.
Littler and the rest of the Pro Tour will get a second chance to get the 2025 Pro Tour off to a winning start later this afternoon as Players Championship 2 gets underway in Wigan. As the relentless life of a top darter continues for Littler, he is then straight back in action on Thursday night for Night 2 of the 2025 Premier League Darts season.
