Luke Littler honoured with gigantic mural more than eleven meters tall in his birthplace

Luke Littler has received another notable recognition for his rapid rise in the darts world. In his hometown of Warrington, a towering mural of more than 11 meters was unveiled on Thursday in honor of the reigning world champion.

With the artwork, sponsor and management agency Target Darts aims not only to mark the impressive achievements of the 19-year-old Englishman, but also to inspire a new generation to discover the sport.

The permanent mural adorns the Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington and pays tribute to Littler’s development from local talent to one of the biggest stars in international darts. The unveiling comes just days after “The Nuke” emphatically defended his World Matchplay title. In Blackpool, he also set a new record by becoming the first player ever to post a tournament average of 111.04 at the World Matchplay.

To mark his historic double — retaining both the world title and the World Matchplay title — Target Darts also unveiled the new “Born To Win” product line. The slogan, which is prominently featured on the mural, is intended by the company to symbolize the mentality with which Littler has reached the very top of the sport in such a short time.

During the celebratory event, Target Darts also announced that, together with Littler, it will donate darts equipment to 63 schools in the Warrington area. The initiative is designed to introduce more young people to the sport and aligns with the ambition Target Darts presented last week: to get one hundred million people worldwide playing darts by the end of this decade, a tripling of the current number of players.

At the official unveiling, Littler was joined by family and friends, as well as the Mayor of Warrington, schoolchildren, local residents, and representatives of Target Darts. For Littler, it was a special moment to see the artwork with his own eyes for the first time. “Growing up in Warrington, I never imagined something like this would happen. It’s a huge honour to have a mural in my hometown and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone at Target Darts for making it happen.”

The world champion mainly hopes that his story will motivate others to follow a similar path. “Hopefully it inspires young people here to believe they can achieve something special too. If it encourages even a few kids to pick up a set of darts and enjoy the sport, then that’s something I’m really proud of.”

The festive day was about more than just the mural. Target Darts also launched the new “Born To Win” collection, entirely inspired by Littler’s successes. The most exclusive release is a limited dartboard edition, with only 500 numbered pieces available worldwide. Each dartboard is personally signed by Littler and comes with an exact replica of the dart with which he won his world titles.

After the unveiling, Littler posed extensively for photos by the mural, before joining darts commentator Dan Dawson to reflect on his career in a Q&A session. He then took to the stage again to throw a few darts alongside three local prize winners who had won a drawing contest, using Target Arcade, Target Darts’ new interactive darts platform that will be officially launched later this year.

According to James Tattersall, CEO of Target Darts, the initiative is about more than just the young Englishman’s sporting achievements. “Luke’s achievements are extraordinary, but what makes this occasion special is the connection he still has with Warrington. We wanted to create something lasting for the town and celebrate a young man who has inspired so many people.”

Tattersall added that the donation to schools and the new product line are part of the same vision. “The mural, the support for 63 local schools and the Born To Win collection of products are all part of the same idea; celebrating Luke’s journey while helping more young people engage with darts and the sport as a whole with the overall goal to inspire the next generation.”

The Mayor of Warrington also paid tribute to the reigning world champion during the ceremony, praising not only his performances on the oche but also his commitment to his hometown.

“Warrington is absolutely proud of Luke Littler. This magnificent mural right here in our community stands as a lasting tribute to Luke’s extraordinary achievements on the world stage. It is more than just art, it is a powerful message to every young person across Warrington: dream big, work hard, and believe that you, too, can reach incredible heights."
