In record time,
Luke Littler has emerged as one of the new faces of the darting world. 'The Nuke' already grabbed the world youth title last year, but really shone with his performance at the 2024
World Darts Championship.
Christian Kist (3-0), Andrew Gilding (3-1), Matt Campbell (4-1), Raymond van Barneveld (4-1), Brendan Dolan (5-1) and Rob Cross (6-2) the English teenage sensation qualified for the final of the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace. In the final against Luke Humphries, Littler was allowed to dream of the world title, but after a 4-2 lead, the victory still went to 'Cool Hand Luke' 7-4.
Thanks to his run to the final however, Littler did receive a PDC Tour Card, allowing him to take on a first season on the PDC Tour this year without the rigours of Q-School. 'The Nuke' is making good use of that, as for now Littler has won by far the most matches at the highest level at the PDC.
Littler currently stands at 99 wins,
so figures from FEBsDATA show. Reigning world champion Luke Humphries has 79 wins to his name, while Cameron Menzies is the surprising number three with 78 wins. Michael van Gerwen has won 77 matches, and Ross Smith completes the top five with 67 wins. The 99 wins have already earned Littler several titles. In January, he won the Bahrain Darts Masters, while "The Nuke" won a Players Championship tournament in February. A Euro Tour title followed in March, while Littler won another Euro Tour tournament in April.
The biggest success came in May, winning the
Premier League Darts on debut. Before that, Littler had also won four weekly titles in the prestigious darts competition. Littler picked up a World Series title for the second time this season in June, while the 17-year-old Englishman won his second Players Championship in late July.
This weekend in Amsterdam, Littler could record his 100th win of the season. The current world number 22 is among the participants at the World Series of Darts Finals. In the first round of that tournament, Littler will take on Ross Smith.
