Luke Littler became world champion for the first time in his career early this year. Afterwards, he played four tournaments and failed to win any of them. But that was by no means due to low averages.
Littler started the new season after his world title with a place in the quarterfinals at the Bahrain Darts Masters. He lost 6-2 to Gerwyn Price. Littler hardly had anything to reproach himself for, as he posted an average of 105.5, but came up against an unbelievable Price who finished with a 115.3 average.
A week later, the Dutch Darts Masters was on the program and this time Littler was stranded in the semifinals after a 7-6 defeat to Stephen Bunting. In the process, Littler achieved a much higher average (107.6) than his opponent (99.6).
Last week was the Winmau World Masters, the first major of the new season. Littler lost 4-2 to Jonny Clayton in the quarterfinals. Once again, he achieved a much higher average (108.5) than his opponent (103.9).
Finally, this week, Littler made his first appearance in Premier League Darts action as the defending champion. On opening night, he went down 6-5 against Michael van Gerwen in the quarterfinals. Again, with 113.9, Littler achieved a much higher average than Van Gerwen (105.9).

Once he gets his "timing" perfected, perhaps he will be all but unbeatable?
