Luke Littler completed his debut year with the PDC on Friday night with a first world title. The 17-year-old Englishman defeated Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in the final at Alexandra Palace.
Littler caused a stir at the 2024 World Darts Championship by reaching the final as a then 16-year-old without a PDC Tour Card. He eventually lost that one 7-4 to Luke Humphries. However, it was the beginning of a great year for "The Nuke.
Almost immediately after that World Cup final, he won the Bahrain Darts Masters, part of the World Series of Darts and his first ever title at the PDC. In the months that followed, there was no stopping the super talent either. With each month he won a title, with the Premier League Darts and the Grand Slam of Darts as absolute standouts.
With his world title added, Littler now sits at 11 tournament victories with the PDC. In his debut year, he earned no less than 1,578,750. So at a young age, he is already a millionaire.
Of his 200 matches played last year, he won no fewer than 156. In the process he achieved an average of 99.44. His highest average in an official tournament was 114 and no fewer than 98 times he threw a 100+ average.
Record
Littler, who won the Ballon D'Art for most 180s at the World Darts Championship, threw a 180 score 910 times over the entire year, which is an instant record, no one ever did better.
And still we are not at the end of the list to list his impressive statistics. After all, Littler also threw four nine darters in his debut year, including two at a TV tournament.
He concludes his first full year with the PDC as number two in the world rankings, behind current number one Luke Humphries. Littler was also voted Young Sports Personality of the Year by British public broadcaster BBC.
Luke Littler's ridiculous last 13 months completes one of the most insane sporting stories ever, let alone in darts.
