Martin Schindler has reached the final at the
International Darts Open with a 7-3 victory over
Chris Dobey. This puts 'The Wall' in the final of a tournament on the
European Tour for the first time in his career.
Schindler has twice before been in the semifinals at a Euro Tour tournament. A year ago, he also reached the last four at the International Darts Open, but then lost 7-4 to Michael van Gerwen. Earlier this month, Schindler was in the semifinals of the German Darts Grand Prix, and then it went wrong again against Van Gerwen (7-2).
This time the German was quickly heading for his first final. Dobey could not repeat his good play from earlier in the tournament and saw the first five legs all go to Schindler.
For a moment Dobey could still hope for a comeback when he got the score to 5-2, but then he did not take advantage of a chance given to him by Schindler. A 16-darter put 'The Wall' up 6-2 before the German talent finished it off with an 11-darter in the tenth leg.
