The signs were already growing yesterday, but today came the official confirmation of a real bombshell: Target Darts, one of the world's leading darts manufacturers and supplier to legends and PDC top stars such as Phil Taylor, Luke Littler and Rob Cross, has signed German internet star, Challenge Tour and Bundesliga player Marcel "Scorpion" Althaus.
The announcement was made on Friday morning via Target Darts' official social media channels. "We’re looking forward to supporting Marcel in his darts career now that he’s made the step up to Team Target. He’s already got a fantastic following online, and we’re looking forward to showing more people the high-quality darts Marcel can play," said James Tattersall, Managing Director of the British company, in an official press release on the company website.
Althaus, better known on social media as Marcel Scorpion, is not only one of the most successful German internet personalities on the dartboard, but also in the digital world. The 31-year-old currently has over 3.6 million followers on his YouTube and Instagram channels. 148,000 of them subscribe to his darts channel "ScorpionDarts", on which a previously announced statement on his signing by Target Darts is due to appear shortly.
For some years now, however, Althaus has no longer been making headlines with his call-of-duty and real-life videos, but with his remarkable performances at the dartboard. Scorpion first stepped into the darts spotlight in spring 2018 when he won the traditional "Celebrity Darts World Championship" together with Martin Schindler. In the years that followed, he initially established himself at local level before attracting attention in the PDC environment for the first time.
He achieved a milestone in his darts career to date at the European Q-School 2025: With remarkable performances, Althaus qualified for the final stage for the first time and marched straight into the last 16 on the first day of the second stage of the tournament, earning valuable ranking points in the process. In the meantime, Scorpion was even on course for a Tour Card, but in the end it wasn't enough to qualify for the PDC Pro Tour.
In addition to his PDC ambitions, Althaus is currently competing in the DDV Bundesliga with his self-founded team "Captains DC Berlin". After twelve match days, the 31-year-old is in third place in the individual rankings, which are currently led by former PDC Tour Card holder Vladimir Andersen.
What once began as a hobby has developed into a professional career for Marcel Althaus. With Target Darts as a strong partner at his side, the next big thing seems only a matter of time. The darts world can look forward to seeing what the next chapter in Scorpion's career will look like.
