The last 16 at the 2024
UK Open continues to rumble with
Martin Lukeman and
Luke Littler becoming the latest men to book their Sunday return in Minehead.
On stage 2, one of the pre-tournament favourites
Gary Anderson was taking on Martin Lukeman. Despite Anderson being much the heavy favourite at the start of this one it was Lukeman who was doing the front-running early on. As the players headed off-stage for their break after ten legs 'Smash' was 7-3 clear of the former two-time World Champion thanks to a brilliant 140 checkout. Despite Anderson averaging over 102 and staging a mini-fightback, victory was Lukeman's 10-5.
.Meanwhile, on the main stage, the teen sensation, Luke Littler was taking on
Dave Chisnall. Moving an early break of throw up, 'Chizzy' took a 3-2 lead at the first interval. The second session belonged totally to Littler though, as he raced through it 4-1 to edge into a 6-4 lead.
The momentum was now fully on the side of Littler, who eased into a 7-4 lead with a 14-darter. Despite Chisnall refusing to throw the towel in, even going six perfect darts in leg 15, the recent World Darts Championship finalist rode the wave of momentum all the way to a 10-5 victory.
