Nathan Aspinall, Stephen Bunting, Rob Cross, Mike De Decker, Michele Turetta, Jules van Dongen and Tim Wolters have already announced in advance that they will not be playing. It also remains to be seen whether Michael van Gerwen will travel to Leicester. The Dutchman had to miss a Premier League darts evening and a European Tour tournament last week due to a shoulder injury.

Top players such as Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Gary Anderson, Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price and James Wade are represented in the field of participants in the absence of the aforementioned names.

Prize money of £125,000 is paid out at each Players Championship tournament. The winner of the event will receive the top prize of £15,000.
