Marvellous Martin Schindler seals Quarter-Final spot at World Grand Prix with thrilling win over Stephen Bunting

Martin Schindler is through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2023 World Grand Prix. He defeated the in-form Stephen Bunting 3-2 in sets.

It was 58% on finishing doubles and a high checkout of 160 and reaches his second major Quarter-Final of the year in another Brick in 'The Wall'.

Bunting moved into a 1-0 sets lead early on. It was a superb start from ‘The Bullet’ with a 104.8 average and a high checkout of 138. Bunting went six darts into a nine-dart finish as his superb start continued into the second set.

It was a second 180 for Bunting and he got a shot at 88 for a 2-1 lead after Schindler missed chances. But he missed double seven and Schindler held for 2-1. He pinned a 112 checkout for the set.

Bunting led set three after both hit maximums. It was another 180 for Bunting after being way back but this led to Schindler pinning double 10 for 1-1.

With Bunting sat on double 20, Schindler pinned 160 to go one away from a 2-1 sets lead which he sealed. Bunting pinned a 74 checkout to go 2-0 up as he looked to force a deciding set.

Bunting missed 154 for the set and Schindler made it 2-1. A 65 checkout saw Schindler go one away at 2-2. Bunting hit a 70 checkout to send it to a deciding set.

Schindler doubled his lead in the deciding set for an 80 checkout. Bunting made it 2-1 down but Schindler took out 103 for the win.
