Michael Smith and Nathan Aspinall among late winners as first round concludes at Players Championship 23

The first round is complete at Players Championship 23 with the Last 64 well underway and Michael Smith and Nathan Aspinall were among late winners in the first round.

Most of the big names made it through the opening hurdle. But Aspinall being unseeded was a late winner. Recently returning from injury, he saw off Luke Woodhouse 6-3 with a 101 average.

While Michael Smith averaged 103 in easing past Danny Lauby 6-1. Jonny Clayton is the first winner of the second round alongside Shane McGuirk. The former eased past Mickey Mansell 6-1.
