Michael Smith latest to fall on night of upsets but Gerwyn Price impresses in victory at Dutch Darts Masters

Gian van Veen has advanced to the quarter-finals at the Dutch Darts Masters at the expense of Michael Smith. 'GVV The Giant' triumphed 6-3 against the former world champion.

Van Veen was 1-2 down against 'Bullyboy', but managed to make up the deficit with two 14-darters to lead 3-2. A third 14-darter in a row then made it 4-2. Both players kept their own leg, before Van Veen finished the job with a 15-darter.

Earlier in the evening, Gerwyn Price managed to win from defending champion Dimitri van den Bergh. It was a high-class match, as Price recorded an average of 103.43 and Van den Bergh threw 102.43 average. However, the win went 6-3 to "The Iceman," who threw a 75 percent finish percentage.
