Michael Smith will play a final at the PDC
World Darts Championship for the second time in his career on Monday night. After his defeat against Michael van Gerwen in the 2019 final, he will get another chance against Peter Wright.
Smith has already had to go deep a number of times during the World Darts Championship. The former World Youth Champion started the tournament with easy wins over Ron Meulenkamp (3-0) and William O'Connor (4-2). Especially against Meulenkamp, Smith played excellent. 'Bully Boy' had an average of 106.32, which is still the highest average he has achieved during this tournament.
From the last sixteen it became really tough for Smith. The World Number Nine faced Jonny Clayton, but the most successful player of 2021 was defeated 4-3 in sets. Then outgoing world champion Gerwyn Price also had to head home losing 5-4 in sets. In the semi-final, Smith faced his compatriot James Wade, but The Machine could not shake off his 31-year-old compatriot.
