Peter Wright has reached the
World Darts Championship final once more and we look at his road to the final and tournament statistics. The Scot is in the final of the World Darts Championship for the third time in his career. In 2014 he lost to Michael van Gerwen in the final. Six years later Snakebite took revenge on the Dutchman.
Wright had a difficult start to the World Championships, but had himself to thank for that. The Scot had decided to start the tournament with a new set of darts as he often does. Wright defeated Ryan Meikle 3-0 in his first match, but it wasn't a scintillating start.
He changed them early in his next game and it was a masterstroke, as it turned out later. Damon Heta was defeated 4-2 after four consecutive sets. Subsequently Ryan Searle (4-1) was easily beaten, in the last sixteen. Against Callan Rydz, Wright also fell behind in two sets (3-1), but again the former World Champion managed to fight his way back into the match.
After a deciding set Rydz lost an absolute thriller. Wright then took down compatriot Gary Anderson (6-4) in a similarly incredible clash.
