Smith was superb as he produced a strong display. The former world champion won 6-3 over Ryan Searle, throwing an average of 107.90. The doubles also went well for "Bullyboy," who had a finishing percentage of 55 percent.
Alan Soutar caused a surprise by eliminating the number two seed. The Scot saw his opponent Ross Smith come back to 5-5 after a 5-3 lead, but 'Smudger' missed a matchdart on double 16 in the leg decider. Soutar then struck via tops for a place in the last sixteen.
Mike de Decker convincingly won the Belgian-Dutch derby against Danny Noppert at the Czech Darts Open. 'The Real Deal' treated the Dutchman to a 6-0 whitewash.
It was another strong performance by the brand new World Grand Prix champion, who already posted an average of 104 in the first round on Friday. Against Noppert, De Decker reached an average of 102.58.
Noppert got only one dart at a double in the entire match, which was in the second leg on tops. That was missed, after which Decker produced a 150 finish. Two 15-darters, a 12-darter and a 14-darter then put the 6-0 final score on the scoreboard.
