Noa-Lynn van Leuven makes history as first transgender player at PDC World Darts Championship

Noa-Lynn van Leuven may start preparing for a debut at Alexandra Palace. On Saturday, she secured qualification through the Women's Series by winning the 21st tournament of the season.
For Van Leuven herself, it was her fourth tournament victory of the season. On the Women's Series Order of Merit, she is second behind the untouchable Beau Greaves, but a spot in the top three is enough to secure a World Championship spot. She becomes the first trans player to play at the Ally Pally too.
The 28-year-old won the 21st tournament of the PDC Women's Series by successively defeating Trina Gulliver (4-2), Kelly Haverson (4-0), Mikuru Suzuki (4-1), Hannah Meek (4-1), Lisa Ashton (5-4), Lorraine Hyde (5-3) and Beau Greaves (5-3). Against Greaves, Van Leuven even threw a 109.64 average.
Van Leuven is seventh different female player to qualify for the PDC World Championship Anastasia Dobromyslova, Deta Hedman, Lisa Ashton, Fallon Sherrock, Mikuru Suzuki and Beau Greaves preceded her. Only Sherrock managed to win a match at Alexandra Palace. The 'Queen of the Palace' did so at the 2020 Darts World Championship, where she beat both Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljovic.
Participation in the Grand Slam of Darts may also be in the offing for Van Leuven. In that case, she must hold on to her second spot on the Women's Series Order of Merit in the last three tournaments of the Women's Series.

⭐🇳🇱 Noa-Lynn van Leuven has qualified for her first PDC World Darts Championship. The 28-year old has secured herself of finishing in the top 3 of the Women's Series, after she won a Challenge Tour as well this year.
