In the quest for his first
Masters crown since 2019,
Michael van Gerwen is successfully into the semi-finals and will face the victor of the final Quarter-Final between Dimitri van den Bergh and Damon Heta on Sunday evening.
Van Gerwen swept aside
Dave Chisnall 10-4 with a near 103 average, four 180's and 62.5% on the outer ring in an accomplished display. The other semi-final sees Nathan Aspinall face Stephen Bunting and only really Heta has a great record against MVG so there is scope for the Dutchman to end his barren run in Milton Keynes after such dominance over the years.
Van Gerwen started off well and doubled his lead early on with a 101 checkout. He went into a 4-0 lead from there, before Chisnall finally got off the mark with a third 180 and an 81 checkout to make it 4-1.
Chisnall closed the gap from there to make it 4-2 with an 82 checkout on the bull. But Van Gerwen again put his foot firmly on the accelerator pedal, he pinned a third 180 and took out 82 to make it 7-3 with a 106 average to boot. It was complete one way traffic as Van Gerwen added two more legs without reply to go one away.
Chisnall did offer slight resolution with double 16 to make it 9-4. But Van Gerwen in the very next leg sealed the deal on double 20 with Chisnall way back and not really in finishing range.
