Michael van Gerwen & home crowd hero Martin Schindler complete semi-final lineup at German Darts Grand Prix

Michael van Gerwen has advanced to the semi-finals of the German Darts Grand Prix. In the last eight, 'Mighty Mike' defeated his compatriot Jermaine Wattimena, who reached the last eight of a Euro Tour tournament for the second time this season.

Wattimena won the first leg with a 90 finish, but then was three times in a row not out in five visits. Van Gerwen was able to win those legs and then made it 4-1 with a 12-darter.

In the sixth leg, Van Gerwen had a slip himself by missing three darts on the doubles. Wattimena then hit another 90, reducing the deficit to 2-4. Wattimena then missed six chances for 3-4, however, before Van Gerwen took the lead to 5-2 with a 58 check-out. The 34-year-old former World Champion decided the match with a 13-darter.

Martin Schindler will be Van Gerwen's opponent in the last four at the German Darts Grand Prix. The German won 6-4 over Nathan Aspinall in front of his own crowd.
